How & where to get your DTV

Prepare your funds proof
▶3 months before you apply: keep at least 500,000 THB (or equivalent in your currency) in a personal savings account. Get a bank statement covering the last 3 months showing the balance never dropped below the threshold. Cryptocurrency, stocks and business accounts are rejected.
Gather your remote-work proof
▶Employees: employment contract + recent payslips from a company outside Thailand. Freelancers / self-employed: portfolio, client invoices, or a registered business abroad. You need to show you can work remotely — not that you will work for a Thai company.
Apply on the Thai e-visa portal
▶Create an account at thaievisa.go.th, choose the embassy or consulate that covers your country of residence, select Destination Thailand Visa, upload your documents and pay the ~10,000 THB fee. You must be physically outside Thailand — applications submitted inside the country are rejected.
Wait for approval (≈ 2–4 weeks)
▶Track your application on the portal. Some embassies (e.g. Singapore, Hong Kong) now ask non-residents for local residency proof, so apply from your home country if you can. Approval arrives by email as an e-visa — print a copy for the airport.
Enter Thailand & manage your stay
▶Enter with your passport + e-visa. You get 180 days per entry. Before it ends, extend once by 180 days at any immigration office (1,900 THB) — giving up to 360 days. Then exit and re-enter to reset the cycle. Report your address every 90 days while staying long-term.

❌ Mistake #1: Your funds dip below 500K
+Embassies now check the full 3-month statement — any dip below 500,000 THB is grounds for rejection. Move the money in early and don't touch it until approval.
❌ Mistake #2: Applying from inside Thailand
+DTV applications must be submitted from outside Thailand. Border-run to a neighbouring country (Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia) with your documents and apply from there if you're already in the region.
